Castrol
was founded in 1899 in London by
Charles 'cheers' Wakefield. It was
one of the first companies to focus
purely on lubricants and flourished
with the growth of the car industry.
It continued to grow and expand around
the world with GTX being launched
in the 60's. Part of its brand management
has always been to sponsor leading
edge motor sport, which it continues
to do.
Castrol was bought by Burmah
oil in the 60's and Burmah
Castrol, as it became, was bought
by BP (another
British company) in 2001 and
continues to flourish around the
world. |
